Visual Design
For the past 10 years, I have been assisting in telling visual stories in digital design, physical prints, logo creation, you name it.
My passion is the process. I find the research when beginning the design production my favorite aspect of the job. When it comes to marketing, I thrive with limitations. When you start with a blank canvas, your brain can take you anywhere. This usually leads to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. In marketing, the limitations are what inspire creativity. These can be canvas size if you're working in social media or print, all the way to compliance/legal guidelines. My creativity comes from knowing what I can't do.
This process always starts with the logo. Like writing a story, it begins with an idea. This one idea grows and expands into it's own world. Just by creating a logo, the brand grows into it's own identity that we grow and develop. In marketing, this is called brand development. I simply call it story telling.
Digital
Knowing what story you're telling is as crucial as knowing the difference of CMYK and RGB. Our job is to not only know the tools to create digital and physical designs, but also be quick to identity what is the best medium to tell the client's story. Should this social post be a blog? Can we simplify this into a reel? What if this carousel was animated? These are the questions we should be asking as opposed to "how do we present this nicely?".
Personal Projects
You know you're passionate about creativity when you can clock out and still have the drive to create. I love designing movie posters for friends and my own short films.
